College and Career Counseling

Welcome to College and Career Counselling

The university counselling team provides a structured career and higher education program for students from grades 9 to 12. Throughout this journey, students will identify their strengths and personality traits, explore various career paths, and gain insight into the diverse opportunities available beyond high school. As they advance, they will begin researching and evaluating their post-secondary options. With the necessary knowledge and skills in place, students will then narrow down their choices for university majors and institutions before submitting applications in grade 12.

Meeting with Students

Starting in Grade 11, students have the opportunity to meet 1-on-1 with the College and Career Counselor. These sessions provide personalized support to discuss university paths, high school classes, and any other questions or concerns students may have about their future. Students are always welcome to make appointments with the counselor at any time to receive guidance and assistance throughout their high school journey.

Weekly Advisory Sessions

Each week, students participate in Advisory Sessions, typically held on Tuesday mornings, where they are placed into small, grade-level groups. Guided by their assigned teacher, these sessions provide a supportive environment for students to engage in meaningful discussions and activities focused on Social Emotional Learning, College and Career Readiness, and community building. Through these sessions, students develop essential life skills, gain valuable insights into future academic and career pathways, and build strong connections with both their peers and mentors, fostering a sense of belonging and personal growth.

University Visits

CMIS hosts visits from institutions around the world, offering students the chance to meet directly with representatives of potential universities. Many of these visitors also lead workshops or interactive sample lectures, providing students with valuable insights into the diverse post-graduation opportunities available to them.
